Happy GDPR day everyone! Is your business ready and do you know how the new EU General Data Protection Regulation affects you as an individual and consumer?
After four years of intense preparations, today sees the final implementation of the mutually agreed General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
In recent weeks, you may have received numerous emails from companies about changes to their privacy policies and mailing lists; this is all because of GDPR.
Previous data laws date back to the 90’s and have clearly struggled to keep up with the pace of modern technology. Sweeping, scalable changes were needed and the all-conquering GDPR is supposed to be the cure to the numerous data protection loop holes and inconsistencies across European countries.
What does that mean for you? Well, fundamentally it means that any personal data you give Direct4x4 or any other company is more secure and businesses have to be much more transparent with the way they handle said data.

Here at Direct4x4, we have really beefed up our data and privacy policies and processes to ensure that we are fully GDPR compliant.
We now have a dedicated Data Protection Officer, completely overhauled our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions, implemented several new internal processes and fully trained our staff to be aware of these new requirements.
Using Shopify for our new website has been a huge boon as the platform has also had to make changes for their European customers, meaning that most of the hardcore technical work was already done for us.
