Care for your Roof Top Tent

We all love roof top tents and the versatility that they provide. It's good to look down on the world sometimes and as they draw a fair amount of attention it is important to keep them looking good.

So here are some tips and pointers in the care of roof top tents.

  • As these are a metal construction and sealed tight when closed they will form condensation inside.
  • We recommend not leaving the mattress in the tent during storage to avoid water damage from condensation.
  • Air the tent on a monthly basis and wipe away any moisture.
  • We recommend that you wet the tent canvas before first use to allow the stitching to expand, creating the waterproof seal.
  • If packed away when wet, open the tent as soon as possible to allow it to dry fully.
  • After a couple of sessions use you might consider applying a waterproof spray like Fabsil or Nikwax.

  • Air the tent on a monthly basis and wipe the outer frame. Its easy to forget the very top when you are cleaning the rest of the vehicle.
