2019 - Direct4x4 End of Year Review

It's always good to sit back and reflect on everything you have achieved over recent months. It helps to be proud of what you have accomplished and also helps you to focus on the future.

This has been a very busy year for Direct4x4. We have greatly expanded our overland expedition camping range, with new roof top tents, roof racks, rails and bars and the addition of our incredible new expedition trailers. Going forward, we plan to stock even more 4x4 accessories and expedition gear featuring different colour vehicle side awnings and roof top tents giving our customers a wider choice. Look out for new products in greys, greens and, wait for it, even orange! We’re sure you will be just as impressed with these new colours and designs as we are here in the office!

We continue to expand our showroom here in Derby. We made some great changes earlier this year so that we can show off all of our expedition range. Once customers know they can come and see the products for themselves they are happy to come and have a play. At this moment in time, we’re expanding our showroom upstairs even further so we will have plenty of room to fully display our expanding range.

In June we visited the Abenteuer & Allrad show in Bad Kissingen Germany. With more than 350 international exhibitors from all over the world, this show is one of the most important events for 4x4 vehicles, off-road equipment, outdoor accessories and adventure travelling. It gave us some fantastic ideas, and it was a brilliant opportunity to take a good look at all the new exciting product ideas out there. Plans are already being made for us to attend next year’s event and we can’t wait!

After much discussion, it was decided that Direct4x4 should get out of Derby and head for one of the many shows that attract 4x4 enthusiasts. We opted for the Peterborough Land Rover Owners show in September. We nervously headed to the East of England Showground with our two Land Rover Defenders in tow.

It was a long time since we had been to a show like this and some of us had never even camped before! It proved to be a great experience though on so many levels. We got to experience our own products first-hand, setting up, camping out and dismantling helped educate our staff on how to make the most of our camping gear because we have used our products it makes talking and recommending them so much easier.

We got to meet and chat with many of our regular customers and we made a lot of new friends. Putting names to faces is so much nicer than just speaking to ones on the phone or social media. Customers were able to see and try items up close which helped them make the best choice for their lifestyle and getaways. Lastly, it was a great team bonding time. We laughed, barbecued and had a lot of fun. We also discovered a new whisky liquor drink experience!

Going forward for next year we have plans to do 3 shows. Keep an eye out on our social media channels linked below for more details.

On a day-to-day basis, we continue to welcome many customers who come to us for fitting,  some with their dogs! We love dogs here and we offer a warm welcome to our canine friends.

We continue to expand our social media presence, increasing followers on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. It’s a great way to share our products via pictures and videos, giving ones that can’t make it to our showroom an opportunity to see the gear in action.

We started supplying the amazing Front Runner Slimline II modular aluminium roof racks and accessories. Front Runner are a fabulous brand and extremely popular with our customers. If you haven’t looked at the range, then we encourage you to do so here. Many more vehicles can have their load expanded with these great expedition roof racks.

We continue to work with some amazing communities like Bug Out North Wales, JK Overland, Callum Wallis-Otter, Blue Discovery Girl and Four Wheeled Nomad. These guys are great ambassadors for Direct4x4 and the adventurous overland lifestyle in general. We thank these guys for their hard work, and we look forward to working along with them even more in the future.

So, a busy time, but we won’t rest on our laurels. We will continue to work hard to offer our customers and community friends with the best service and highest quality products that we can. Why don’t you pop down to see us in 2020? Come and see our new showroom here in the heart of Derby and have play with all of these new products, we are sure you won’t be disappointed!
